For sale is an antique surgeon\'s bone saw from the mid to late 1800\'s. The saw has the writing impressed into the frame near the trigger finger hole: \"Shepard and Dudley NY\". The frame of the saw is one piece that extends through the handle. The handle has two sides attached to the frame. The saw blade is on good shape, but is well oxidized with surface rust. Someone removed the patina on the handle to expose the Shepard and Dudley writing.
The seller saw a very similar saw to this with a different label that was in a collection from 1860. This type of saw was manufactured from the 1860 to about 1880. An interesting piece of medical history.
