You are looking at an antique Peugeot Freres # A3 coffee grinder. These were designed for commercial coffee roaster or cafe use. This is Peugeot\'s top of the line cast iron model with solid brass covers and white enamel inside. Impressive, but not too large for home use, the mill itself is about 19 in tall, with the 15 in. cast iron fly wheel adding a few more inches to bring the total to about 22 inches. The cast iron catch box is about 9 in sq. The finished wooden base is salvaged maple with solid brass fasteners. The 1/2 lb coffee canister in the first image is there for visual reference and not included in the sale.
For the collector, home roaster, or coffee lover. The A3 model is rarely seen in the US and this one is complete and totally functional. Everything is there and everything works ! It\'s ready to go back into service in a small cafe or a home where coffee begins with freshly ground beans.
This Peugeot coffee mill has been cleaned and restored. Some of the old pins have been replaced and it appears that the fly wheel drive shaft was rebuilt on a lathe at some point in the past. The cast iron has been repainted as per the original green. Some signs of age/use on original metal parts, but no damage that I can see. Photos express the condition of this very scarce French coffee mill.
