It only pulls 19 watts (not 17), so there’s not a large amount of energy flowing thru it. But it handles a single 10” x 17” tray pretty well. Mine is on the barn’s solar system, so the low wattage is necessary. To be effective in a cold area, the tray and heater need to be in a small enclosed space like a mini greenhouse. The quality seems good. There is no thermostat, so it needs to be monitored manually. But because of its low power, this is not much of a problem. I will probably buy one or two more.

This seed heat pad is not very warm but then, I've nothing to compare with, it didn;t cost much and cannot harm even if it helps only a little bit. My peppers and eggplants are germinating nicely but they also have an incandescent light for heat and grow lights to encourage them as well.

I use the mats for outside cats. They found their way in my garage and I found them sleeping in places trying to keep warm. I purchased several mats, one for water, keep it from freezing, one for food so it doesn't freeze, and they sleep on the other mats. It's a constant 70% and they love sleeping on them. I went to Goodwill and purchased heavy pillow cases. I put the mat inside the pillow case to keep it dry and clean. I can change and wash the pillow cases and it keeps the mats clean and dry. Not to mention their nails, I don't want them digging into the mats.

I am using this to keep my kombucha warm as it ferments. This does a great job. This keeps the kombucha between 76-80 degrees which is perfect. Great value. Cheaper than a kombucha warmer.
