This book is an excellent read to capture an insight into the 'real' life of a musician on the road to stardom. Most people's conception is that things are perfect when you 'make it' in the industry, Andy shows it's not reality. The underscore of this whole book is Andy showing the harsh reality of always giving up something to have something in this business. Also, you don't 'make it' without putting in the hard work to get to 'make it' and sheer luck is always a valuable asset. I loved having the ability to look into the life of one of my favorite musicians and how he thought as he climbed the road to success. It was was very refreshing to have a very sensible and thought provoking ending to the book...thanks Andy.
One of my favorite guitarists. Who knew all the crazy shenanigans going on behind the scenes at a Police concert? Not me, I bought the book but haven't read it yet. It's sitting on my bookshelf waiting for the electricity to go out when I have nothing else to do but read a book.

Pretty much a massive disappointment as it's mostly about Summers' time with The Police and not a memoir of his entire career per se. The worst part is the disdain Summers shows towards most of his non-Police work. Of the two seminal albums his did with Robert Fripp in the 80's, the first (I Advance Masked) barely gets a mention at all and the second (Bewitched) is completely ignored. Yet- strangely- the Thelonious Monk tribute album he released 15 years after the time period covered in this book gets a plug. To quote Corey (Big Hoss) from Pawn Stars, I'm calling bullshit here.
Excellent book
