If you don't know who Rodney Mullen is, you ought to google 'skateboarding.' If you don't know what skateboarding is, then you ought not to buy this book. If you have any interest in what it takes to be not only a great skateboarder, but an innovator, a student of life, a hard-worker, and lead a very interesting life beyond those things, then I suggest that you buy and read through this book; more than once! I am an aggressive skater, and comparing what I do to skateboarding is apples to oranges. What Rodney has done with his trade can and should inspire people in whatever they love to do. Michael Jordan shot free-throws for hours on end to become a great basketball player. Rodney Mullen skateboarded for hours everyday for the better part of his life, but he didn't just become a great skateboarder, he had to re-invent skateboarding. Rodney spent his whole life dedicated. With all that he has done he still found time to write about it and I think we owe it to him to spend the time reading it.Read full review
Since I have started to collect freestyle skateboards this year. It was just to obvious to get Rodney Mullens book, he's the legend in freestyle skateboarding. It gives the reader an inside view of the life of Rodney and his progress in skateboarding. The text is large, kind of like in a child book and it has both color and b/w photos. Since I'm such a nerd on freestyle this was a must have for me. But I think any old school skateboarder would like the book.
Great read! Rodney is a very interesting person .

Rodney Mullen is my young son's skateboarding HERO. So he was excited to get a book written by him. I have no inclination to read the book, but my son likes it. Of course, he is 11 and has hero worship for this God of skateboarding tricks named Rodney Mullen.
Not just a book about skateboarding, but about the people involved. Written in a very positive tone, The Mutt opens up about himself and tells the story of how a geek/nerd turned into one of the biggest icons in skate history (so far). It was a good read.
