No it's not noisy if you put it back in the laundry room. Don't expect to not hear the fan at any of the 3 speeds if running out in the living room. We had the old water wheel design before this one. Let me tell you this one is much cleaner than that one caked up with lime on the foam of the plastic wheel that went round & round squeaking 24/7. Set up of the AIRCARE was a breeze. Just drop the filter in track an set the float to the switch for the fan control. If it runs out of water it cuts it off. I bought the AIRCARE hygrometer too an we started out at 20% humidity across the house to here in the office now at 37%. The reason we bought the humidifier is we have a 3000SqFt supplemental Englander wood furnace in the basement that pumps heat through the duct work to each room register. We've had heat as high as 88*F whole house when it was below freezing outdoors. We also run four paddle fans to spread heat & moisture from both the registers and the AIRCARE. The wood heat dried the air so badly we got the new whole house AIRCARE humidifier. Glad it's this one! It works hands down without glitch. We are breathing much better moist air now because of it.Read full review

Product is now starting to fail. When I press the button to change the fan speed it makes strange noises and will not speed up. This is the same for f2 and f3. Sometimes I have to shut it off and try again, but that doesn’t help. Clearly something wrong with it. I’ve only used it one winter and the start of this one, so it’s not even on all the time. Would not recommend this product.

This unit is I would say quiet, but quiet like a hushed conversation, not silent. It has one moving part, a fan. The fan is slow-moving, but it is still a fan, so you can tell when it is gently blowing. It is a nice sound, not annoying, and it does tell you that it is working. One neat factor, it has a built-in humidistat, and the sensor is a little bulb-shaped pod on the power cord, where I suspect it is more accurate than it would be if it were in the machine itself. One good or bad point, it keeps a very "tight" control on the humidity. That is, it is not off for a long period with a big humidity drop and on for a long period with a humidity spike, Instead, it cycles on and off quite frequently. This is needed for a tight humidity control,. One other good or bad point, the thing is thirsty! I have it set at a recommended 30% up here in cold Maine, and it is holding it, but at the use of about two buckets of water a day. That is just the laws of physics: you can't have humidity without water! But be prepared to feed it. All in all, it does exactly what it is supposed to do and does it very well. I am very pleased with it. : Read full review

I had one before but I had to give it to my mother when she moved into an apartment and she loves it, but I missed mine so I wanted this exact model and I am so glad I bought another one, this one is digital and I can't believe how quiet it is, its awsome so glad I bought it. I searched all kinds of humidifiers but came to the conclusion that his is the best one, it's easy to maneuver because it's on wheels and it's easy to clean and easy to fill you don't even need to move it and when it's on low it's so quiet and it humidifies my whole 3 and a half large apartment. Nothing bad to say I really do love it, thanks Aircare for putting out an awsome product. 🧡

It is quiet on the lowest fan setting. Obviously the higher the fan setting the more noise it makes. I just run them on low all the time. Overall it is a well designed and built unit. I have one upstairs and one downstairs and until it gets extremely cold and the heat is running a lot they keep up very well. Unless you have a steam system installed in your air handler I doubt you can find a better way to maintain humidity in your house. With hot water heat I don't really have that option. I do have a heat pump downstairs primarily for AC but with not using it in the cold months for heat I am afraid of getting mold in the ductwork with a humidifier installed in the air handler.
