This stud finder is simple. easy to use, requires no battery, and is always ready to use. I have used the battery operated ones. They cost a lot more but don't work any better. Plus they always need a battery. This one gets the job done.

Well I tested it with a magnet first...so I saw how it works...but then I used it on my drywall for the location of the stud edge (by way of the nail) ...and it didn't pick it up...that means my drywall was too thick for this tiny stud finder...so this one could be used for thinner drywall...or small table top project...in my case I slid slowly from left to right...I went up and down...I tried every wall in my place...I put up 10 shelves in my apartment...so the more expensive one that said: "stud scan/deep scan" is the one that eventually worked/read...that tells me...my drywall is thicker...but keeping this tiny stud finder for other projects...it won't hurt to have them on hand...nicely priced...I bought two #thanks

I like this stud finder much better than the more expensive models. I have never had any luck finding a stud with the expensive brands and wind up putting a number of holes in the wall. This one is accurate because it finds a nail which indicates that a stud is present. It is a great value and does the job!

I have had one of these in my kitchen drawer for more years than I can count. It was suddenly missing so I had to replace it. It's so simple to use, when you have one of those easy jobs.

We have metal studs in our home and this locates them easily. Also good for locating drywall nails and screws in wood-framed homes to find the vertical studs. Can't go wrong at this price.
