Up for sale: Vintage/Antique Catholic Last Rite Communal Sick Call Box. I found this old box with several (possibly all?) of the original items still inside. This Last Rite/Sick Call box is very old - not sure how old, but it does have wear & tear on outside and inside. Look at pics - What you see is what you get. I do not know much about this item - only what it is, but please email me with any questions. I will do my best to answer them. The large wooden cross lost the nails holding Jesus to it but I set the Jesus (pewter?) figurine on it so you can see what it is supposed to look like. I am not fixing the Crucifix, but you can - It uses very small screws/nails to hold Jesus to it.
I do not know if the spoon is real silver - it looks tarnished but I really have no idea what kind of metal it is. It is lightweight. There are 2 plates - they are stacked on each other - I didn't realize there were 2 when I took the pictures! Both plates have the inscription IHS on them. The crosses have latin, "INRI". The handkerchief (of whatever) is original - very old - I am sure it has many stories stained on it. It has a silver cup, two candle holders, some kind of horse-hair (I think) brush, and a Holy Water glass bottle. There is a "shell looking cup thing" attached to the box under the Jesus crucifix on the underside of the top lid of the box (see picture 1 and 6). This is very much a historical piece and I am sure many people are fascinated with such an unusual vintage item.
All the items in the pictures come in the box and are sold as is. This is an antique and looks very old, but I do not know the date it was made.
As always I start my sales low to make offerding fair - Good luck and Happy offerding!
