Antique 19th C Blood Letting LANCET Knife Surgeon Vintage Vest Pocket Scalpel Product Description

FREE WORLDWIDE SHIPPING...About 2 1/16" closed this is an early lancet...has what appears to be the original box. The old surgical quality carbon steel blade is sharp and about full with some patina, small pitting scars, a few tiny edge nicks, stamped CROWN/SMITH. The scales are gorgeous and have just minor scuffs, some small dings here and there. The box has some modest wear, but still sturdy and attractive. This is a very collectible and handsome medical, surgical item, probably from Sheffield England, for Surgeon's vest pocket carry. Note that the practice of bloodletting or phlebotomy was not restricted to humans, and also practiced on various animals by veterinarians.
