380 - 400 nm: Start of visible light spectrum. Process of chlorophyll absorption begins.
400 - 520 nm: Peak absorption by chlorophyll occurs, and there is a strong influence on photosynthesis.
520 - 610 nm: This range includes the green, yellow, and orange bands and has less absorption by pigments.
610 - 720 nm: Large amount of absorption by chlorophyll occurs, and a significant influence on photosynthesis.
720 - 1000 nm: There is little absorption by chlorophyll here. Flowering and germination is influenced.

What are the Advantages of LED Grow Lights?
Recent advancements in LEDs allow production of relatively inexpensive, bright, and long-lasting grow lights that emit only the wavelengths of light corresponding to the absorption peaks of a plant\'s typical photochemical processes. Compared to other types of grow lights, LEDs for indoor plants are attractive because they consume much less electrical power, do not require ballasts, and produce considerably less heat than incandescent or fluorescent lights. This allows LEDs to be placed closer to the plant canopy than other lights. Also, plants under LEDs transpire less, as a result of the reduction in heat, and thus the time between watering cycles is longer.

What is the Difference Between 1W and 3W LEDs? Is 3W Better?
Yes, our 3W chip is better; both on brightness and penetrating energy compared to one watt LEDs. Therefore, these lights will give your plants better light penetration. The one and three watt bulbs can be compared to a garden hose. The one watt bulb is like a garden hose with two kinks, you will not get a strong flow rate. On the other hand, the 3 watt bulb being more efficient is like a garden hose without kinks and water flows through it without interruptions.

What is the Cost to Run These LED Lights Opposed to HPS Lights?
At a rate of 0.1139 cents per Kilowatt an hour, a 1000watt HPS will cost $2.05 per day and $61.50 per month (running 18 hours/day).
At the same rate, a 500W High Power LED will cost $0.67 per day and $20.11 per month. That\'s an annual savings of $496.68 per light!

Does this Light Emit Much Heat?
Our lights emit virtually no heat, LEDs are the most efficient lights nowadays. They produce so little heat that you can actually let the plant touch the light (although it\'s not recommended - as you will reduce the size of your growing area). Any heat produced by the unit is absorbed by the heat sink and dissipated by the fans in the rear of the light.

Why Do Some of the LEDs Seem Dark or Broken?
This LED Grow Light has 2 LEDs that may seem dim or not to be working at all. This is not the case - These individual LED diodes are emitting light in the InfraRed (IR) and Ultraviolet (UV) spectrums. This light is outside of the light spectrum that the human eye can see, and is used because of the beneficial properties for plant growth. Don\'t panic, this is by design. (These LEDs are typically found in the center of the light).

If One LED is Broken, will it Affect Other LEDs?
No! It will not affect other LEDs, the others will still work. We have designed our lights to have a protective safety fuse on every LED so that if one LED burns out it will not affect surrounding LEDs.

Proper LED Light Height:
Keeping the proper distance between your LED grow lights and your plants is important to robust photosynthesis and growth. A smaller, less intense light like the 120 Watt LED Grow Light can be lowered to 18-24 inches from the top of the plant canopy. The 240 Watt LED Grow Light should be 24-30 inches from the top of the canopy. Larger lights such as the 450 Watt LED Grow Light should be lowered around 30-36 inches from the top of the canopy.

Room Temperature:
Since LEDs do not emit great amount of heat like MH/HPS systems, you can better regulate the room temperature and the temperature immediately below your light. Ambient room temperature can be 82 degrees instead of 72 degrees during lighting and can go as low as 60-65 degrees when the lights are out.

Watering:
Be sure to use less water than you would normally use as LED lights emit much less heat than conventional methods. Wait until your soil is a little bit dry before watering again. You should also use 30% less nutrients as compared with MH/HPS when growing with LEDs

OFF Cycle:
Do not work in your grow room when it is supposed to be dark in the OFF cycle. The plants need the dark time to rest and light intrusion will negatively affect their growth. If you must work during the OFF cycle, use green light bulbs for lighting as the green light is reflected by the plants and will not disrupt their sleep schedule.

Vegetative State:
During the vegetative state is when you will start to reap the benefits of your LED grow lights. During this period you will save on your electricity bills and get superior growing results. Vegetative growth is maintained with 16 or more hours of light. You can even keep the plants under 24 hours of light and they will continue to grow in this stage. However, the recommended growth cycle is 18 hours of light during the vegetative growth stage. It is during the vegetative growth stage that cloning, transplanting, pruning, and bending are all initiated.

Turn your LED grow light ON for 18 hours a day and then turn the light OFF and leave your plant in the dark for another 6 hours. Your plant will need four to six weeks of this cycle to be ready to start the flowering stage. When you start seeing pre-flowers forming this means that the plants are ready to go into the flowering stage.

Flowering State:
Give your plants 12 hours of uninterrupted darkness and 12 hours of light to induce visible signs of flowering in two weeks or less. Adding more light to the plants also help give bigger flowers and yield.

Once you have induced flowering for one to two weeks and flowering starts, it can last can last eight weeks or longer. During flowering growth patterns and chemistry changes in the plants (i.e. indoor growing flowering stages). Stems elongate, leaves grow progressively fewer blades and flower formation is rapid at first then slows. Phosphorus and potassium uptake increase to promote floral formation. Your nutrients should have less nitrogen and more potassium and phosphorus during flowering. Don’t give nutrients too often as this can cause your plant to get nutrient burned. Do not over water and do not harvest too early.

Cloning:
LED grow lights are great for cloning plants. Proper usage of LED grow lights will multiply the number of plants you have in a methodical and environmentally friendly way. Cloning require only 2-3 weeks in the vegetative state. Use an 18-20 hour ON cycle for your clone and spray it with water intermittently. As with the vegetative state, when your plants are seedlings the light can be lowered to within a few inches of the top. As the plants start to grow adjust the light upwards a few inches at a time.
